This Is My Life

My name is Veronica Vesper. I was born in Chesapeake, VA. My parents lived there for only a year after they had me so we moved to Benld, IL. I went to Gillespie High School and graduated in 2008. I came to SIU Edwardsville and was a pre-law major. After a variety of changes to my major, I decided that PR was the pathway for me. I am currently a 22-year-old senior majoring in Speech Communication with a focus in PR, and a double minor in Women's Studies and Mass Communications. I graduate in May 2013.

 

My Family

I am very blessed because I have a very supportive and loving family. I recently moved home so commuting is a challenge for me, but with their support it has not been as bad as I thought it would be. I have a six month year old shih zhu named Bella. My parents have been together for 30 years, and are proof that true love does exist. I have a 16 year old brother who unlike me at that point in my life knows exactly what he wants to be when he grows up. I have two grandmas who support me and live close.My family is my rock, and I do not know what I would do without them.

Opportunities that I Have Had in College

I have taken every opportunity that college has presented to me along my path. I have joined several organizations which have helped me to network myself. I also studied abroad last semester with the International Study Abroad Program for Public Relations. I was in Lyon, France for two weeks, and then Bucharest, Romania for two weeks. I had never flown before so I had no idea what to expect. During my time abroad, I was an intern Monday, Wednesday and Friday at a PR firm, and a student on Tuesday and Thursday. Not only did I learn a lot about international public relations, but I networked with so many people across the globe. It was an amazing opportunity that allowed me to grow and learn in the field of PR.
